Fire Protection Assessment
The fire protection assessment is an organized and focused assessment that will help the insurer to verify that the fire protection systems installed at its insured’s facility are adequately designed and are working properly. This is essential to ensure that if a fire occurs at the facility it is likely to be controlled or contained quickly and effectively. This will minimize potential property damage and business interruption for the client and reduce the total cost of risk for the insurer.
The fire protection assessment includes the following steps:
-
Arranging with the insured regarding a scheduled date and agenda for the survey.
-
Visiting the insured’s site at the scheduled date and time.
-
Meeting with the insured’s facilities staff to review the design and maintenance of the installed fire protection systems such as fire alarm system, sprinkler system, hydrant system and any special fixed fire protection systems.
-
Inspecting the above-mentioned fire protection systems.
-
Performing flow tests on the sprinkler pumps, selected sprinkler control valves (main drain test), selected sprinkler inspector’s test connectors (flow alarm test) and yard hydrants.
-
Closing meeting with the participants where all preliminary findings and risk improvement recommendations will be discussed.
-
Preparation of report.
A Fire Protection Assessment Report will be submitted within three weeks after the site survey. The standard report will contain the following sections:

-
General Information
-
Executive Summary
-
Test Results on sprinkler pump performance test, main drain test, flow alarm test and hydrant flow test
